Seolhyun's new commercial is facing a lot of heat for "discriminating against female voters." Now, of course, this is no way Seolhyun's fault. Instead the National Election Committee is to blame. Their commercial featuring Seolhyun depicted women as being so infatuated with their beauty products, they do not think to vote. The advertisement is geared towards voters of a younger age group for the upcoming national election. The Korean Women's Association United demanded this advertisement to be pulled out of the media as it gives off a false image of women.
Seolhyun's agency is also to blame for this. I mean, I get that they want Seolhyun's image to be all over the place, as much as possible. But, it would be wise to think how certain CFs can backfire on an idol's image. Because of this CF, some people will not be able to help but to associate Seolhyun with gender stereotypes, which is obviously bad. Check out the CF below.
